Morgan: Kate Mara is featured in the first official photo from Morgan, a sci-fi thriller from director Luke Scott. His father, Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner), is producing the movie, which follows “a corporate troubleshooter who’s sent to a remote location to evaluate an artificially created, rapidly developing lifeform.” Anya Taylor-Joy, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook and Paul Giamatti also star. Adam Sandler: With his latest live-action comedy, The Do Over, set to debut on Netflix this weekend, Adam Sandler is planning a return to animated films. Sandler will write, produce and star in a family-friendly project, which is not yet titled. His previous animation credits include Eight Crazy Nights, Hotel Transylvania and Hotel Transylvania 2 (above). [THR]

Get Shorty: Based on a novel by Elmore Leonard, 1995’s Get Shorty presented a delightful view of Hollywood through the eyes of a loan shark (John Travolta) from Miami. Now a television version is on its way for the Epix network, centering on a criminal from Nevada who moves to Hollywood in hopes of becoming a movie producer. The 10-episode series will begin production this fall, aiming to debut in the summer of 2017. [Deadline]
