Doctor Strange: What We Know

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no longer a strange experiment in the world of filmmaking. It is now a very well oiled machine that has produced 13 blockbuster films that have grossed a combined total of more than $10 billion worldwide. And in a lot of ways as the MCU enters phase 3, it is really just getting started. With lots of new characters being introduced over the coming years and lots of corners of the Marvel Universe barely even touched on, if even explored at all, Kevin Feige and Co. have a lot coming our way over the next handful of years. Now that Captain America: Civil War is out to the delight of both critics and fans, it is time to focus on bringing the next brand new hero into the MCU, and that hero is Doctor Strange.

Not even two years ago, many people had concerns about...

5 Directors Who Could Take Over Godzilla 2

With Gareth Edwards exiting Godzilla 2, Warner Bros. currently needs to fill the director’s chair, and there are some really great candidates who may be up to the challenge. Last week, Warner Bros.announced that they were bumping back the release date for Godzilla 2nine months from June 8, 2018 to March 22, 2019. And very shortly after the date shifted, the studio announced that director Gareth Edwards would be exiting the project as a result. The split with Edwards and the studio was reportedly mutual and there are no bad feelings on either side of the table. Edwards went from working on Godzilla to directing the first Star Wars anthology film, the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One and has other offers on the table that are clearly too hard to pass up.

Though not everyone loved 2010’s Americ...

5 Disappointing Movies That Deserve a Second Chance

There are more than a handful of sequels and franchise movies that came out amongst tons of hype only to fail or disappoint fans that waited far too long to finally see them. Sometimes, its this anticipation that makes a movie seem less than its sum. We, as lovers of pop culture, have spent far too much time cultivated our own ideas about them. In many instances we have years, even decades, to build the movie for ourself inside our brain. So, of course, more often than not…There’s going to be a disconnect. We never return to these movies again. Our tainted memories remain firmly in place. But sometimes, its these bloated expectations that devour us, killing any enjoyment or fun we might otherwise have with any given installment of the latest blockbuster...

The Geek Beat: The Greatest Moments From The ‘X-Men’ Movies (So Far)

35

The big-screen adventures of Marvel Comics’ famous mutants continue this week in X-Men: Apocalypse, pitting Charles Xavier’s team of gifted youngsters against one of their greatest foes from the comics world.

Although Apocalypse director Bryan Singer has described the film as the concluding chapter in a trilogy that began with 2011’s X-Men: First Class, the upcoming film is actually the ninth installment of the X-Men franchise – a series that has had a fair share of highs and lows over the course of eight earlier films.

With the franchise once again moving forward, it seemed like a good opportunity to look back on those earlier movies and put the spotlight on the scene that (arguably) made each movie so memorable.

It might seem like an obvious choice ...

13 Superhero Movies Perfect for Justin Bieber

On the back side of the Funky Bunch, we never imagined that Marky Mark would emerge as Mark Wahlberg, top marquee draw and an Oscar nominee. While DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince was a fun and popular pop act of the 80s, no one living through 1988 ever thought, “That Will Smith sure has box office gold written all over him!” Cut to thirty years later, and he too is a multiple Oscar nominee and one of today’s top leading men. While Justin Timberlake hasn’t exactly set the big screen ablaze, he’s become a beloved institution amongst the hipster marketplace, as well as a sought out persona amongst all other demographics who love his comedy on Saturday Night Live, bathe in his music, or applaud his various turns at dramatic acting. He’s the closet thing we have to Frank Sinatra today.

9 Ways Suicide Squad Will Crush Captain America: Civil War

9 Ways Suicide Squad Will Crush Captain America: Civil War

The late, groundbreaking producer Julia Philips referenced the following saying in her book You’ll Never Eat Lunch In This Town Again: ‘If you can’t be the best, be first’. By this logic, the cinematic smack-down between Captain America: Civil War and Suicide Squad is already over. Why? Well, Civil War comes out May 6 and Suicide Squad drops August 5.

To that end, considering that the films come out three months apart, this really isn’t a fair fight. We’ll only know which film did better by the box office receipts that are tallied. At present, word of mouth on Captain America: Civil War is quite good. Suicide Squadhas had decent word of mouth, but it seems that there are many things working against it.

First of all, it is has to live up to Heath Ledger’s Joker...

11 Best Spring Break Movies of All Time

Spring Break movies are a unique beast. While there might not be direct research into this, it seems that these films are offshoots of the “beach, blanket, bingo films” from the 1960s. As the genre really seemed to catch fire in the late 1970s and then in the 80s, the connection between the two is actually more acute than one might think.

The beach movies of the 1960s were simple, fun and represented All American values. The spring break movie, truthfully, hailing more from the 1980s than the 70s, are similar in that their characters are looking for fun and a good time. However, spring break films have a devilish side, and that makes for many moments of boobs and butts that my generation has never forgotten. Yes, when you have a Spring Break movie, you can expect to see some sex!

Green Lantern Isn't Coming to The CW Anytime Soon

Back in March, it was teased that The CW’s new DC Comics TV series Legends of Tomorrow will be introducing a new character from the comics in the Season 1 finale. Just a few weeks later, it was revealed that Suits star Patrick J. Adams has come aboard to play this mysterious character, who was later rumored to be both Booster Gold and Green Lantern. As it turns out, both of those reports were wrong, with the season finale, which aired last night, revealing the actor as DC hero Hourman. Just hours before the finale aired, though, executive producer Marc Guggenheim made it clear that there are no future plans for Green Lantern to appear in the DC TV universe.

Shortly after the Booster Goldrumor surfaced in March, another report claimed Patrick J...
